NASA TRIP TO SOUTH AFRICA

NASA has just completed a successful tour of South Africa. Over 50 swimmers represented the association and Kenya at the Africa Development Swimming Challenge held in Newcastle, South Africa. The contingent was supposed to have left for South Africa on the 17th of March, but due to unavoidable circumstances it had to be split into two groups. One comprising 14 swimmers and three officials left managed to leave on the 17th, the rest following them the next day.

A 300-kilometer bus ride from Johannesburg took the swimmers to the town of Newcastle where the competition was to be held. Accommodation was at the Holiday Inn, which was unfortunately over-booked, hence swimmers slept four per room. The pool was a mere 10-minute drive away from the hotel, very convenient.

Competition started on the 19th with the long races being swum first.
